IDS offers free-standing and desktop solutions for printed electronics applications or an integrable subsystem that can be retrofitted to existing motion control platforms.

NanoJet Direct Write Systems for Additive Manufacturing

NanoJet FS

The NanoJet FS system is a free-standing printer that provides a complete printing solution. The Free-standing System accepts g-code files and enables a user to perform various tasks ranging from circuit prototyping to production manufacturing.

COMPONENTS

  • Print Module
  • 3-Axis Motion Control Module
  • Process Control Module
  • Part Alignment Camera
  • Process Vision Camera
  • Windows 10 Computer

The Print Module consists of an ultrasonic aerosolization source, a removable and interchangeable ink cartridge, and a flow cell. The aerosolization source (atomizer) produces a polydisperse distribution of aerosol droplets that are transported from the ink cartridge to the flowcell, where the aerosol stream is combined with an annular sheath gas and propagated through a series of aerodynamic lenses. Line widths as small as 20 microns can be printed on substrates such as polyimide, FR4, glass, and silicon.

The Motion Control and Process Control Modules allow a user to execute motion and shuttering commands and to set and monitor process parameters such as gas flow rates, print speeds, and aerosol deposition rate.

The Part Alignment and Process Vision Cameras enable mapping of a toolpath onto a 2D or 3D part and real-time viewing of the printing process respectively.

NanoJet Desktop

The NanoJet Desktop printer is a complete printing solution mounted in a compact enclosure. The Desktop offers the following components.

COMPONENTS

  • Print Module
  • 3-Axis Motion Control Module
  • Process Control Module
  • Part Alignment Camera
  • Process Vision Camera

The Desktop printer is available in single and dual-material configurations.

Nanojet Subsystem

The NanoJet Subsystem is an economical print solution designed to be retrofitted to a pre-existing motion control module. The Subsystem uses the same Print Module as the (Full) FS System and Desktop systems and has the same printing capability.

COMPONENTS

  • Print Module
  • Process Control Module

Each NanoJet system is quality tested with an internally-developed non-toxic polymer ink. Quality testing checks for the proper function of the entire system and guarantees print stability and process repeatability.

Stable, Unassisted Aerosol-Based Printing

When used with the NanoJet Process Control Module and a suitable Motion Control Module, the NanoJet Print Module can stably print electronic inks for up to eight hours. Printed line widths range from approximately 20 to 1000 microns.

Configurable Printheads

Single and Dual-Material Printheads

The Print Module is available in single-material and dual-material configurations. The Dual-Material configuration has the same capabilities as the single-material configuration, but is capable of printing two inks serially or simultaneously from separate ink cartridges.
